Russian Drone Strikes Hit Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv, Injuring Civilians, Including Children

On the evening of December 20, Russian forces carried out drone strikes on residential areas in Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv, resulting in injuries to at least 12 people, including two children, according to local authorities.

Zaporizhzhia

A Russian drone hit a nine-story residential building in Zaporizhzhia, causing injuries to four residents, including a 12-year-old boy. The strike led to damage to several apartments and broken windows, as reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to address a fire that broke out as a result of the attack.

In a related incident in the Vasylivka and Polohy districts of the region, shelling injured three additional individuals, including a woman and two men.

Kharkiv

In Kharkiv, a Shahed drone struck a multi-story residential building, injuring six people, among them a 12-year-old girl who sustained minor shrapnel injuries. The strike caused a fire affecting the first and second floors, with an estimated burn area of 30 square meters, according to Oleg Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.

Later that evening, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed two additional injuries in another drone attack that damaged private homes and a business facility in the village of Solonytsivka.
