On the night of March 18 to 19, hours after Russian leader Vladimir Putin spoke of Russia’s commitment to a “peaceful resolution” during his call with Donald Trump, Ukrainian cities once again came under heavy attack.

Media reports indicate that around 40 drones targeted multiple regions of Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense systems were active throughout the night, but several drones struck civilian infrastructure. One of the most serious incidents was a direct hit on a hospital in Sumy.

“Right now, in many regions, you can literally hear what Russia truly wants,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. “Around 40 Shaheds in our skies, air defense is working. Unfortunately, there are strikes, and precisely on civilian infrastructure. A direct hit of a Shahed drone on a hospital in Sumy.”

In addition to the hospital in Sumy, strikes were reported across Donetsk region. Drone attacks also targeted Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, Dnipro, and Cherkasy regions.

“These are the kinds of nights we are living through,” Zelenskyy stated.

Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he does not want Ukraine to be treated as a mere “item on the menu” for Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
