Alexander Dugin, a philosopher and a prominent figure behind the "Russian World"  іdeology, has publicly advocated for increased state surveillance and control over society.

In a recent blog post on March 12, Dugin described the tightening of government oversight as an unavoidable reality that Russians must accept.

Dugin argued that since some form of monitoring is inevitable in the modern world, it is preferable for the domestic government to manage it rather than foreign powers.

He stated that the idea of living without any state control is an unrealistic "utopia." According to his view, this oversight should be handled "with intelligence, with care, and with attention" to ensure the country’s victory in Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The philosopher also addressed the historical role of the Russian people, suggesting that suffering is a natural part of their national experience. He claimed that any harm caused to other nations is justified through a lens of humility and national glory.

“We, Russians, have always suffered in history. Such is our fate. We are a great people, and if someone was treated unfairly, it is only for humility and for glory,” Dugin wrote.

He concluded by telling his audience that there is no alternative to the current global situation.

In September 2025, a conference was held in St. Petersburg led to the formation of the "International Sovereigntist League (ISL) Paladins," an international neo-fascist association.

Supported by the Russian Orthodox Church and led by ideologue Alexander Dugin alongside oligarch Konstantin Malofeev, the event brought together delegates from 12 countries.

The gathering was preceded by a massive religious procession led by Patriarch Kirill and served as a platform for promoting racial exclusion and a global struggle against Western values under the guise of protecting the "white Christian world."

The "Russian World" (Russkiy Mir) is a geopolitical and neo-imperial ideology that asserts Russia’s influence extends far beyond its current borders. It claims that anyone who speaks Russian, shares Russian culture, or adheres to the Russian Orthodox faith belongs to a single, unified civilization led by Moscow.
