Russian Missile Strike on Kryvyi Rih Kills 18, Including Nine Children, Fires Break Out

A Russian missile attack on Kryvyi Rih on April 4 resulted in at least 18 deaths, including nine children.
More than 50 people have been reported injured, though the exact number is still being confirmed.

Fires broke out across the city, with cars and garages catching fire, and significant damage to high-rise buildings.
“There is already information about 14 people killed as a result of the missile strike on Kryvyi Rih. The number of injured is constantly increasing,” stated the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Administration, Serhii Lysak.
“A cluster ballistic missile from the Russians, preliminarily an Iskander. This is a deliberate strike intended to kill a large number of people,” said Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reacted to the deadly Russian missile strike on Kryvyi Rih:
“A Russian missile hit an ordinary city. Just a street. A residential area. Preliminary reports indicate it was a ballistic strike. As of now, we know of 14 people killed, including six children. My condolences to their families and loved ones.
The rescue operation is ongoing. At least five buildings have been damaged.
Daily Russian strikes. Daily civilian deaths. There is only one reason this continues: Russia does not want a ceasefire, and we see this. The whole world sees this. Every missile, every attack drone proves that Russia only wants war. And only through global pressure on Russia, through all efforts to strengthen Ukraine—our air defense, our forces—only this will determine when the war will end.
America, Europe, and the rest of the world have enough power to force Russia to abandon terror and war. And this must be ensured—peace is needed.”
“Right now, doctors are fighting for every life. Many of the injured are in operating rooms. Preliminarily, more than 30 people are in medical facilities. Among those wounded are children. The youngest is just three months old—a boy with lacerations,” Lysak noted.
“Initial reports from Kryvyi Rih indicate significant damage, including around two dozen high-rise buildings, over thirty vehicles, and educational and food establishments. Emergency services are on site, with psychologists assisting the people. A humanitarian headquarters has been set up. The rescue operation in the city is ongoing,” updated Lysak.
“Currently, there are over 40 casualties in Kryvyi Rih from the enemy strike,” reported the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed responsibility for a missile strike, stating that it targeted a meeting of Ukrainian military commanders and Western instructors.
“Today, April 4, at 18:49, a high-precision missile strike with an explosive warhead was carried out on a location where a meeting with unit commanders and Western instructors was taking place in one of the restaurants in Kryvyi Rih,” the Russian Defense Ministry stated.
“As a result of the strike, enemy losses amounted to up to 85 military personnel and officers from foreign countries, as well as up to 20 units of automotive equipment,” the ministry claimed.
"As a result of the missile attack. As of 00:00 (Kyiv time), unfortunately, there are already 18 dead, including 9 children. The number of injured is 56," said the Head of the Defense Council of Kryvyi Rih, Oleksandr Vilkul.
