Russian Missile Strikes on Kharkiv and Chuhuiv: Civilians Injured, Including Children
On the night of August 24-25, 2024, Russian forces launched missile strikes on residential areas in Kharkiv and Chuhuiv. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), these attacks resulted in civilian casualties, including children.
In the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv, several residential buildings caught fire due to the explosions, covering an area of over 200 square meters. SES psychologists were on-site to provide support. Preliminary reports indicate that 8 individuals were injured.
In Chuhuiv, missiles hit a residential sector, causing fires in 2 houses with a total area of 240 square meters. Preliminary reports state that 5 local residents were injured, including 2 children.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed the occurrence of a powerful explosion in the city and urged residents to exercise caution and stay in shelters. Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, also warned about the danger and reported that 2 people in Kharkiv sought medical assistance: a 23-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman. Syniehubov further clarified that in Chuhuiv, one child, aged 4, suffered an acute stress reaction but did not require hospitalization, while 2 women received on-site medical aid.
The number of injured in Kharkiv has risen to three, while in Chuhuiv, four individuals sustained minor injuries.
