Russian Shelling in Toretsk and Zarichne, Donetsk Region, Results in Four Civilians Killed

On August 19, Russian forces targeted the city of Toretsk and the village of Zarichne in the Donetsk region, killing four local residents.

According to a statement from the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office on Facebook, Russian troops launched an artillery strike on Toretsk. The attack resulted in the death of a 71-year-old woman who was fatally injured by shrapnel while in her yard.

Additionally, the village of Zarichne in the Lyman community was struck by a projectile, which hit a residential area. This attack caused fatal injuries to three civilians, including a man and a couple, aged between 61 and 72.

The type of weapon used in the Zarichne attack is still under investigation.

In connection with these incidents, legal proceedings have been initiated under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, which addresses violations of the laws and customs of war.
