Russian Shrapnel Drones Strike Sumy for the First Time, Killing 2 and Wounding At Least a Dozen

A Russian attack on a residential neighborhood in Sumy killed 2 people and injured 12. It damaged multiple apartment buildings, private homes, and vehicles in the community, according to the Sumy Regional Military Administration on November 22.

Sumy Regional Military Administration head Volodymyr Artiukh revealed that the Shahed drones used in the assault were equipped with shrapnel.

“This weapon (shrapnel) is designed to kill people, not to destroy infrastructure. This is the first time we’ve seen such use in Sumy,” Artiukh said.

Efforts are underway to clear debris and assess the full scope of the destruction caused by the attack.

Earlier, Russian forces struck the city of Kryvyi Rih on the morning of November 21, injuring at least 32 people, including 2 teenagers.
