A resident of the Belgorod region in Russia has died as a result of a “traffic accident” involving a tank which drove over a civilian car, as reported by the local publication "Pepel."

According to journalists, the incident occurred on July 24 in the village of Berezovka, Borisovskyi district. The tank, exiting from a turn, collided with a vehicle that was traveling along the main road and obeying traffic rules.

The driver of the car, local resident Konstantin Lopatkin, died at the scene. According to the investigation, he succumbed to "heart rupture."

Journalists report that after the accident, the tank stopped approximately one hundred meters from the crash site. Eyewitnesses stated that the crew "was in an impaired state." Local authorities refrained from commenting on the incident.

This is not the first traffic accident involving a tank in the Belgorod region in Russia. In early June, "Pepel" reported that on a stretch of road between the village of Krasivo in the Borisovskyi district and the village of Golovchino in the Grayvoron urban district, a tank exiting from a field collided with a passenger car. The driver of the car died. The tank was halted by law enforcement officers approximately three kilometers from the scene.

According to sources cited by the publication, the tank was operated by an intoxicated military personnel. Local authorities also did not provide any information about the incident.
