Several thousand people have already registered to participate in the Ukrainian Legion in Poland, a new volunteer military unit.

This was revealed by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski at the NATO Public Forum during the Alliance summit in Washington, DC.

According to him, Poland began to prepare the first Ukrainian brigade, which consists of volunteers. He emphasized that there are up to a million Ukrainians of both genders in Poland and many of them are ready to serve.

“Several thousand of them have registered for recruitment. Interestingly, many of them genuinely want to serve and replace their fellow countrymen [who need rest after combat], but they are saying: we do not want to be sent into battle without proper training and equipment," Sikorski said.

Sikorski added that Warsaw will take care of training and equipping the volunteers and they will have the right to return to Poland after completing the rotation.

"If every European country did this, there would be several brigades in Ukraine," said the Polish Foreign Minister.
