“Shoot Them F*ing Dead”: Russian Officer Orders POW Executions, Ukrainian Intel Says

Ukrainian military intelligence has released an audio intercept in which a Russian commander orders the execution of two captured Ukrainian soldiers.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense (HUR), the intercepted conversation captures a Russian serviceman reporting that he had taken two wounded Ukrainian soldiers prisoner.
In response, his commander instructed him not to keep them alive. “Shoot them fing dead, we don’t take prisoners, fing shoot them. Leave quickly,” the officer is heard saying in the recording.
HUR confirmed on September 28 that the intercepted call provides direct evidence of a Russian field commander ordering the killing of prisoners who were already injured and posed no threat.
In its official statement, the agency stressed that such acts are further proof that war crimes are not isolated incidents but a systemic practice.
“A direct order from a commander to execute prisoners of war once again proves that war crimes are a deliberate and systematic policy of the aggressor state, Russia.” the statement read.
Earlier, on July 2, Ukraine’s Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets stated that Russia has executed at least 268 Ukrainian prisoners of war, adding that the killings appear to be sanctioned by senior Russian military leadership.
