During his recent visit to Russia, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico expressed Slovakia's willingness to host negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv, said Putin according to Russian media on 26 December.
"Regarding the venue—yes, he [Fico] said that if negotiations take place, they would be happy to offer their country as a platform for such talks," Putin stated. "We have no objection."
He further commented, "If it comes to that—why not? Slovakia, from our perspective, takes a neutral position. This is an acceptable option for us."
On December 22, Fico met with Putin in Moscow for face-to-face talks. Fico has been the Prime Minister of Slovakia since 2023, having previously served as PM from 2006 to 2010 and from 2012 to 2018.
