Spain Delivers 10 Repaired Leopard Tanks and Other Military Aid to Ukraine
Spain’s Ministry of Defense announced a new shipment of military aid to Ukraine, including ten refurbished Leopard 2A4 tanks.
This aid package also includes various excavators and anti-tank missiles. The Leopard tanks underwent extensive repairs and maintenance at a Santa Bárbara Sistemas facility in Seville, Spain, ensuring their functionality before being sent to Ukraine.
The Spanish Ministry of Defense confirmed the secure transport of the equipment, with the ship departing Spain last Saturday and expected to arrive in Poland by next weekend. From there, the aid will be transported onwards to Ukraine.
This shipment brings the total number of Spanish-donated Leopard tanks to Ukraine to 20, with plans for further deliveries in the latter half of 2024.
Additionally, reports from June suggest Spain may have previously provided Ukraine with a second batch of anti-aircraft missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
This follows Germany’s announcement on July 8, regarding the shipment of ammunition for Patriot and Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine.
