Steven Seagal Claims He’s Ready to Fight And "Die if Necessary" for Putin
US actor and Russian propagandist Steven Seagal stated in a new documentary released on October 10 that he is ready to fight for Russian leader Vladimir Putin and "die if necessary."
Since the onset of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Seagal has frequently praised Russia and was one of the few celebrities to attend Putin's inauguration for his fifth term in May 2024.
In Seagal's latest documentary, titled "In the Name of Justice" and aired on the Russian state-run media platform Smotrim, he is seen visiting various occupied territories in Ukraine, including Mariupol.
The film features Seagal engaging with civilians and promoting Kremlin propaganda, aided by a translator and voiceover. He also visits Ukrainian prisoners of war, allegedly Azov fighters.
In one segment, Seagal mentions that he wrote a letter to Putin, stating, "Now we will see who our true compatriots and friends are, and who our enemies are. I will stand by my president and fight on his side."
The actor became a Russian citizen in 2016 and was appointed by Russia's Foreign Ministry as a "Special Representative for Russia-US Cultural Links, Cultural and Historical Heritage" in 2018. He reportedly moved to Moscow in 2021 to avoid fines from the US government.
