On the evening of July 22, a Ukrainian Air Force pilot flying a Mirage-2000 fighter jet experienced a technical malfunction during a routine mission, according to a statement from the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The pilot promptly reported the issue to flight control and carried out the proper emergency procedures.

“He acted professionally, as required in crisis situations, and successfully ejected,” the Air Force noted.

A search and rescue team quickly located the pilot, whose condition was described as stable. No casualties or damage were reported on the ground.

A special commission has been appointed to determine the cause of the incident.

Earlier, France has committed to training more Ukrainian pilots to fly Mirage fighter jets, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced following a lengthy call with French President Emmanuel Macron.
