US President Donald Trump stated on February 16 that he’s open to letting European nations purchase American-made arms for transfer to Ukraine.
According to Bloomberg, this move could enable Ukraine to use American-made arms, even as the US scales back its military support.
The news agency added that the Trump administration has urged Western allies to purchase American weapons and military equipment as a means of maintaining NATO’s cohesion.
Additionally, in discussions about the security relationship, Trump’s team indicated that it would like Europe to purchase more American energy.
On February 15, US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, outlined the steps Russia must take to achieve a resolution to its war against Ukraine, including territorial concessions, a commitment to refrain from future military actions, and a reduction in the size of its armed forces.
