Trump Supports Russia Sanctions Bill With 500% Tariffs on Trade Partners, Says Graham

US Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican and the author of a bill to strengthen sanctions against Russia, said he believes President Donald Trump will support and sign the legislation.
Speaking on ABC News, Graham said he discussed the proposed measures with Trump on June 28.
“For the first time yesterday, President told me… I was playing golf with him. He says, it's time to move your bill. There's a waiver in the bill, Mr. President. You're in charge of whether or not it's to be implemented. But we're going to give President Trump a tool in the toolbox,” Graham said.
When asked whether Trump is going to sign it, Graham said, “Yeah, I think we're in good shape.”
The senator added that the legislation is expected to be passed after Congress returns from its July recess.

The bill includes a provision to impose a 500% tariff on countries that continue to purchase goods from Russia while failing to support Ukraine.
“If you're buying products from Russia and you're not helping Ukraine, then there's a 500% tariff on your products coming to the United States. India and China buy 70% of Putin's oil. They keep his war machine going. My bill has 84 co-sponsors. It would allow the president to put tariffs on China and India and other countries to stop from supporting Putin's war machine to get him to the [negotiating] table,” Graham said.
Earlier, it was reported that the US Senate has postponed consideration of a new sanctions package targeting Russia, citing shifting priorities due to the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.
