The United Kingdom will not halt its military aid and training for Ukraine, despite Kremlin demands that foreign support to Kyiv must end for peace talks to proceed, The Guardian reported on March 19, citing British defense sources.

Following a phone call between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, the Kremlin issued a statement suggesting that ending Western military assistance was a prerequisite for de-escalation.

However, London quickly reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ukraine, stating that its £4.5 billion ($5.7 billion) military aid package for 2025 remains unchanged.

The UK’s firm stance follows similar statements from France and Germany, whose leaders rejected Moscow’s demand for a halt in military aid, warning that such a move would leave Ukraine defenseless.

Additionally, the European Union has signaled its intention to continue supplying arms to Ukraine, even if a 30-day ceasefire is reached.

While Trump has claimed that he and Putin did not discuss ending US military assistance, the Kremlin insisted that “the complete cessation of foreign military aid and intelligence sharing with Kyiv” was necessary to prevent further escalation.

Earlier, reports emerged that Britain was hoping that the United States would provide drones and satellites to monitor the front lines in the east of Ukraine as part of a potential ceasefire agreement.
