Ukraine Approves Oncilla-Shturm Armored Vehicle for Armed Forces Operations
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified and approved the use of the armored vehicle Oncilla-Shturm in the Armed Forces, which is employed for a wide range of tasks.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to the press release, this domestically produced armored vehicle can be manufactured in several configurations. The Oncilla-Shturm accommodates a crew of 3 and an additional squad of 6 soldiers.
The Ministry highlighted that the vehicle is equipped with an automatic transmission and a powerful turbo-diesel engine, which together deliver excellent performance and speed. Its fuel reserve allows it to cover a distance of over 700 kilometers.
"The domestically produced armored vehicle 'Oncilla-Shturm' showcases Ukraine's progress in developing equipment tailored to the modern battlefield's demands. Its reliability and functionality enable our forces to carry out combat missions under highly challenging conditions, ensuring personnel protection and operational efficiency," stated Deputy Minister of Defense Dmytro Klimenkov.
The standard equipment of the armored personnel carrier includes an automatic tire inflation system, hydraulic power steering, an air conditioning system with an additional heating function, an automatic fire suppression system, a filtration-ventilation system, and a winch. Its armament features a remotely controlled combat module equipped with a heavy machine gun.
The Oncilla armored combat vehicle is a licensed version of the Ukrainian-designed Dozor-B armored vehicle, produced by the Polish company Mista. The first Oncilla was assembled in Ukraine, with subsequent production taking place in Poland.
