Ukraine Arrests Russian Mole for Leaking Military Secrets
Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) announced on November 15 the arrest of a Special Operations Forces lieutenant colonel who was acting as a "mole" for Russia's GRU , passing Ukrainian forces’ plans of operations in the rear to the Russian forces.
"The aggressor was most interested in attaining intelligence on sabotage and reconnaissance raids by Ukrainian special forces behind the front line in the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Crimean directions," SBU wrote on its official Telegram account.
The perpetrator was identified as a lieutenant colonel and commander of a Special Operations Forces unit within Ukraine's Armed Forces. He had been recruited by the Russian forces even before the full-scale invasion began.
The spy exploited his official position, which allowed him to access information about planned troop movements of the Defense Forces, their weaponry, and intended targets.
On October 28, SBU announced the arrest of a 34-year-old local volunteer affiliated with the United Nations World Food Programme in the Donetsk region, who was allegedly recruited by Russian intelligence to gather information on Ukrainian defense positions near Pokrovsk.
