Ukraine Charges Russian Z-Celebrity Shaman for Spreading War Propaganda

Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has officially indicted Russian singer Yaroslav Dronov, known by his stage name Shaman, for publicly supporting and promoting Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the agency announced on February 25.
According to the SBU, Dronov is part of a Kremlin-controlled circle of Russian pop artists who actively endorse the Russian leadership’s actions and glorify fighters participating in the war against Ukraine. He has performed at concerts and mass rallies in support of Vladimir Putin and Russia’s forces.
In late 2022, Dronov recorded a video praising Russian militants while also justifying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, which began in 2014.
In February 2023, Dronov traveled to Russian-occupied territory in the Kherson region, where he performed at a state-sponsored concert supporting the Kremlin’s regime.
Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies have been actively pursuing individuals involved in spreading war propaganda and promoting Russia’s military aggression, with Dronov now facing potential legal consequences for his role in Putin’s war machine.

Earlier, reports emerged that Russian schools will host “patriotic music lessons” featuring singers such as pro-Kremlin Shaman, Oleg Gazmanov, and Denis Maidanov.
