The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announces a new approach to the formation of military rations, considering religious, medical, and ethical needs.

As part of this initiative, the variety of military rations will be significantly expanded, providing soldiers with a broader range of products, including plant-based, kosher, and halal options.

The new rations will be available to servicemen starting December 2024, once the development and approval process is complete.

“We aim to create conditions where every defender of Ukraine feels comfortable and confident. We understand that many of our military personnel follow different religious traditions or have specific dietary needs, so we are actively working with religious communities and nutrition experts. We also recognize the importance of ethical choices, which is why plant-based rations will be a key part of our new strategy. This is not just a matter of nutrition but also of respecting each soldier's beliefs,” emphasized Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Dmytro Klimenkov.

"The idea of diversifying the menu arises partly because we are aligning with European standards, where individuals with needs different from the community are not ignored but are provided for. We must align with the EU and NATO not only in standards but also in respecting individual preferences,” stated Halyna Litosh, Director of Project Portfolio Management at State Rear Services Operator (DOT.)
