The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has responded to recent comments made by Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, who used derogatory language towards President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Ukrainian MFA spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi addressed the remarks, emphasizing that such statements are unacceptable, particularly from an individual aligned with Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Lukashenko has remained in power for decades, maintaining control through elections widely regarded as neither free nor fair. His administration has been accused of manipulating electoral results to sustain his rule.

Additionally, Belarus has played a direct role in Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, allowing Russian troops and military equipment to enter Ukraine from its territory, while also serving as a launch pad for missile strikes against Ukrainian cities.

According to Tykhyi, Lukashenko’s rhetoric reflects his political stance rather than diplomatic discourse. “Insults directed at the head of the Ukrainian state are unacceptable, especially from an accomplice in the crime of aggression against Ukraine. Moreover, engaging in entomology will not benefit the subject in question,” he wrote on social media platform X in Belarusian.

Lukashenko made these statements during an interview with Russian media while visiting Moscow. He reiterated previous accusations against Zelenskyy and dismissed the possibility of meaningful negotiations, stating that Ukraine lacks politicians capable of dialogue. When reminded of his past derogatory remarks about Zelenskyy, Lukashenko reaffirmed them.
