The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has commissioned the first underground hospital for the Armed Forces, marking a significant step forward in medical support for the military.

The construction of the first stabilization point was a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Defense and the private investment company.

The facility consists of six steel bunkers, each equipped with ventilation systems, water supply, and alternative power sources to ensure operational functionality under challenging conditions.

Equipped with modern medical technology, including operating rooms and intensive care units, the hospital can accommodate and treat over 100 injured personnel. This initiative represents the first phase of a larger project that aims to construct more than 20 similar checkpoints across the country.

The hospital is constructed using steel bunkers, known as “kryivkas,”. These bunkers have been modernized and structurally modified to meet the specific requirements of military doctors. The facility is equipped to the standards of second-tier field hospitals (Role/Echelon 2) as per NATO guidelines, ensuring it can provide advanced medical care on the battlefield.

Additionally, the facility is outfitted with high-power electronic warfare systems and alternative power sources, enhancing its operational resilience and security in combat conditions.

“Such underground checkpoints are critically important for saving the lives of our military. In the conditions of intense hostilities, we have to provide maximum protection and quick medical assistance to our heroes. This is the first step in a large-scale project that will strengthen our medical infrastructure and allow us to more effectively support defenders on the front lines,” emphasized Rustem Umerov, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

The hospital offers intensive care, treatment, and patient management until they are either discharged or evacuated to another medical facility. All of this is provided close to the front line in conditions that ensure the safety of both doctors and patients, allowing critical medical support to be delivered without compromising security.
