Ukraine Prepares to Send 150 Firefighters to Help US Combat California Wildfires

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has tasked the Interior Minister of Ukraine and diplomats with preparing a plan for Ukrainian firefighters to aid in combating devastating wildfires in California, the President announced during his nightly address on January 12.

“The situation there is dire, and Ukrainians can help Americans protect lives. This is currently being worked out, and through the appropriate channels, we have offered our assistance to the American side. 150 of our firefighters are already prepared,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

Earlier, Zelenskyy spoke with US President Joe Biden, expressing solidarity in the face of the devastating wildfires in California and praising the courage of Americans working tirelessly to save lives and contain the fires.
