Authors

On Tuesday, August 6, units of the Ukraine defense and security forces destroyed, among other things, one Russian helicopter in the sky over the Sumy region.

In the morning of August 6, information started appearing about combat operations in Russia’s Kursk region, bordering the Ukrainian Sumy region. The governor of the Kursk region reported an attempt by Ukrainian Forces to break through the Kursk border.

Later in the evening, the Russian Defense Ministry commented on the border breach by Ukraine in the Kursk region, saying military reserves will be used to repel the attack.

In the late evening, the Sumy Region Military Administration reported downing a ballistic missile, 2 UAVs, and a helicopter, without specifying the model.

According to OSINT analysis, two Russian helicopters were downed on August 6, a Ка-52 and Mi-8. Due to a lack of information, we could not specify which one the Sumy administration was referring to downing.

A third helicopter, Mi-28 was reportedly damaged using an FPV drone. A video was leaked on the internet of the process of downing the Mi-28. The timeline of the video is unknown.

Later a known Ukrainian activist and Youtuber, Serhii Sternenko, who actively raises money for the Ukrainian Army, stated that the leaked video is of an “FPV wing”, Ukraine’s Dart UAV, which many people donated for. He said he was not initially planning on posting the video, since it could endanger the operators and jeopardize other plans using the drone.
