Ukraine Selects 'La Palisiada' for Oscar Contention in Best International Feature Film Category

The Ukrainian Oscar Committee chose the crime drama ‘La Palisiada‘ directed by Philip Sotnichenko as a contender from Ukraine for the Oscars award.

The movie will represent Ukraine for the nomination for the 97th Academy Award in the category "Best International Feature Film".

The events of the film take place in Ukraine in 1996, 5 months before Ukraine signed a document that renounced the use of the death penalty. Forensic psychiatrist Oleksandr and his friend, investigator Ilhar, investigate the murder of their police colleague. Three men were connected by joint work, long-standing friendship, and feelings for one woman. Now she is the widow of the deceased. 

The world premiere took place within the framework of the 52nd Rotterdam International Film Festival, and the Ukrainian premiere took place on October 12 during the Kyiv Critics' Week.
