Ukraine Strikes Engels and Dyagilevo Airbases in Preemptive Drone Attack on Key Russian Military Sites

Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a drone strike on an oil depot in the city of Engels, Saratov region and Dyagilevo Airbase in the Ryazan region in the early hours of June 6.
The strike was confirmed by General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on June 6.
Russian Telegram channels claimed that an oil depot in the Saratov region was hit, which supplies the Engels-2 military airbase.
According to the General Staff, multiple strikes were confirmed, hitting at least three fuel storage tanks, which triggered a large-scale fire. Russian emergency services failed to contain the blaze, and heavy smoke continues to be observed. Dozens of explosions were recorded in the vicinity of the targets.
The targeted facility is believed to be used for refueling Russia’s strategic bombers, which are regularly deployed in cruise missile attacks against Ukrainian cities.

Russian air defense systems were also active near the Dyagilevo airbase, with reports indicating a fire in the vicinity of the strike, General Staff added. The airbase hosts aerial refueling tankers and escort fighters that support missile attacks on Ukrainian territory. It also serves as a launch site for Russian strategic bombers.
Additionally, Ukraine’s Defense Forces targeted several key enemy facilities within the Russian Federation and in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. Among them was a logistics hub belonging to the 30th Motorized Rifle Regiment of Russia’s 72nd Motorized Rifle Division, struck near the village of Kulbaki in the Kursk region. The extent of the damage is being assessed.
Earlier, a powerful explosion was reported near Bryansk Airport with initial accounts indicating a blast in close proximity to the facility.
According to preliminary information, Ukraine’s Armed Forces may have targeted and destroyed ballistic missile launchers in the Bryansk area. The launchers were allegedly being prepared for a nighttime strike on Ukrainian territory.
