Ukraine Strikes Russian Military Airfield in Occupied Crimea

Ukrainian forces have targeted a Russian airfield in Dzhankoi on April 17, as stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the operation, conducted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, resulted in the destruction or critical damage of several targets at the Dzhankoi military airfield on April 17, 2024:

  • 4 S-400 missile launcher units

  • 3 radar stations

  • An air defense control point

  • “Fundament-M” airspace surveillance equipment.

The exact number of aircraft targets hit or destroyed and the casualty figures among the personnel of the Russian army is being updated.

Reports of explosions near the airfield surfaced in the early hours of April 17, accompanied by footage of a significant fire shared on local Telegram channels.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Ukrainian Armed Forces and Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi for their role in the operation.

“The occupier must lose, and each of their losses is Ukraine’s strength,” commented Zelenskyy in his evening address.
