Ukraine to Test Estonia’s New Drone Interceptor Missiles
Ukraine will soon receive air defense missiles from Estonia’s defense company, Frankenburg Technologies, for testing purposes, with the first samples expected within the coming months, reported the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on November 8.
The plan was discussed during a recent meeting in Kyiv between Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister, Brigadier General Anatolii Klochko, and executives from Frankenburg Technologies.
The missiles provided by Frankenburg are designed primarily to intercept and neutralize drones, with the capability to strike targets up to 2 kilometers high.
“Our goal is to help Ukraine win this war. For this purpose, we’re offering a sample of a new, cost-effective missile specifically aimed at neutralizing aerial threats, particularly drones,” stated Kusti Salm, CEO of Frankenburg Technologies.
Salm also indicated that if the trials prove successful and Ukraine opts to adopt the missile, production could potentially be established within Ukraine.
Preliminary agreements suggest that the next step will involve securing funding and structuring production.
For Ukraine, expanding its missile arsenal is critical to resisting Russian aggression, noted Deputy Defense Minister Klochko. He called on international defense manufacturers to provide weapons for in-country testing under active combat conditions.
“We are open to collaboration and ready to test various models of modern weaponry,” Klochko added.
Estonia is also exploring the possibility of purchasing defense products from Ukraine, including long-range missiles, as part of its efforts to enhance military capabilities and support Ukraine’s defense industry.
