Ukrainian defense technology company Unwave has unveiled its latest development in electronic warfare (EW): the PATELNYA-2K/3K, a portable system designed to counter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used by Russian forces to deploy explosive devices against infantry.
The PATELNYA system is engineered for frontline operability, integrating a compact design within a MOLLE-compatible backpack. The antenna can be operated with one hand, providing mobility and rapid deployment capabilities for ground forces under threat from hostile drones.

Functioning as a high-power electromagnetic emitter, the system operates within a broad frequency spectrum, offering 360-degree jamming coverage. According to multiple field reports, however, prolonged exposure to such electromagnetic fields has raised concerns among personnel, with symptoms including headaches, nausea, fatigue, dizziness, and more serious cognitive disruptions such as impaired concentration and memory.
To mitigate these health risks, Unwave has equipped the system with a specialized shielding hood for the operator. Additionally, the PATELNYA-2K/3K includes a remote-control unit, allowing it to be operated from a safe distance within protective cover. The device can also be deployed in a stationary position, supported by an integrated bipod mount.

Earlier, Polish defense firm Advanced Protection Systems had integrated Ukrainian-manufactured acoustic sensors into its flagship SKYctrl counter-UAV system. SKYctrl is engineered to detect, track, and neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles that present a security threat.
