Ukraine’s Official Response to Putin’s Manipulative Demands for Ukraine to Give up Its Territories

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to Vladimir Putin’s conditions for ending the war in Ukraine: “Putin’s manipulative statements only mislead. He does not seek peace, he seeks the division of the world.”

During a meeting that took place just ahead of the Summit on Peace for Ukraine in Switzerland, Putin laid out his conditions for ending the war in Ukraine, which included Ukraine giving up its territories — the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions and the abandonment of plans to join NATO.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stressed that all of Putin’s ultimatums have been heard many times before and aim to mislead the international community, undermining diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a just peace and splitting the unity of the world majority around the goals and principles of the UN Charter.

“At the same time, the time of their voicing is indicative. Throwing such signals into the information space on the eve of the inaugural Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, Putin pursues only one goal: to prevent the participation of leaders and countries in this summit. The appearance of Putin’s statements just a day before the start of the summit shows that Russia is afraid of real peace,” the Ministry wrote.

Putin wants to undermine the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland since Russia doesn’t plan for peace, but for the continuation of the war, the occupation of Ukraine, the destruction of the Ukrainian people, and further aggression in Europe.

“Ukraine has never wanted this war and like no one else in the world wants its end. But to force Russia to abandon its aggression, the efforts of one country are not enough.

The participation of as many countries and international organizations as possible in the inaugural Global Peace Summit is critical to forcing Russia to abandon its ultimatums and move to good faith negotiations to end the war, not propaganda statements under the guise of horrific missile attacks on Ukraine,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added.
