Russia Planned Aerial Terrorism Targeting Poland and Global Airlines, Says Polish PM
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stated that Russia intended to carry out terrorist attacks not only against Poland but also targeting airlines globally.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Poland on January 15, Tusk highlighted recent discussions among state leaders on security in the Baltic Sea region. These talks, held in Finland on Tuesday, addressed Russian sabotage activities.
“These acts of sabotage represent a form of warfare that Russia has declared against the entire world, not just Ukraine. They demand a collective response, and Poland plays a critical role in countering sabotage and diversions, which have occurred not only on Polish territory,” Tusk noted.
He further emphasized that recent intelligence supports concerns about Russia’s preparation of aerial terror campaigns.
“Russia planned aerial terrorism—not just against Poland, but also targeting airlines worldwide,” Tusk said.
While refraining from providing specific details, Tusk confirmed the gravity of the situation, describing some instances of sabotage or preparatory actions as particularly concerning.
The remarks come amid increasing reports of Russian activities aimed at destabilizing the region, prompting closer cooperation among European nations to address the shared security challenges.
Earlier, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski accused Russia of attempting sabotage in Poland and announced the closure of the Russian consulate in Poznań. He emphasized that this decision was a response to Russia’s hybrid warfare and efforts to carry out acts of sabotage on Polish territory.
