Poland has officially announced the closure of the Russian Consulate in Poznań, declaring its personnel persona non grata, citing security threats from Moscow’s ongoing hybrid warfare. The decision was confirmed by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski in a post on X (Twitter).

In his statement, Sikorski emphasized the need for decisive action in response to alleged sabotage attempts by Russia on Polish soil. “As the Minister of Foreign Affairs, it is my duty to act decisively. The first step is the closure of the Russian consulate in Poznań. We will not take a single step back. We are protecting the Republic of Poland, and we are protecting Poles,” Sikorski declared.

Poland currently hosts three Russian consulates, located in Kraków, Gdańsk, and Poznań. The closure of the Poznań office marks an escalated stance from Warsaw following earlier indications of potential countermeasures against what Sikorski described as “Moscow’s subversive activities.”
