Majority of Poles Believe Situation in Ukraine Impacts Poland’s National Security
70% of the population in Poland believes that Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine poses a threat to the country's sovereignty and independence, and 30% believe that the threat is insignificant or absent.
This was stated in a study of Statistics Poland (GUS) regarding public sentiment in Poland in July, Ukrinform reports.
According to the study, 30.1% of Poles consider the threat to the country's security in connection with the current situation in Ukraine to be very great, and 39.9% of an average level. At the same time, 23.8% of respondents are convinced that this threat is insignificant, and 6.2% do not see a threat at all.
Earlier this summer, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Radosław Sikorski stated that Poland is considering closing border crossings with Belarus.
Additionally, Sikorski recently stated that Poland is studying the possibility of shooting down Russian missiles over Ukraine.
Simultaneously, 73.4% of Poles believe that the current situation in Ukraine poses a threat to Poland's economy. Among them, 29.7% see this threat as significant, 43.7% as moderate, and 26.6% perceive it as insignificant or non-existent.
