Ukrainian border guards and the National Guard have received specialized military sanitary buses as part of a comprehensive assistance package from NATO. This initiative was announced by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS) and is designed to enhance medical evacuation capabilities.

The project, executed under the supervision of the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA), involved the delivery of modern buses equipped with advanced medical technology. These buses enable emergency teams to autonomously operate with three critically injured patients while simultaneously transporting an additional four supine and eight seated patients under medical supervision.

Prior to the delivery, technical staff from both the SBGS and the National Guard underwent training abroad on the operation and maintenance of the buses and their equipment. This included acquiring skills for the appropriate placement and transportation of injured individuals based on their medical condition.

The NATO assistance package not only includes the provision of the buses but also encompasses technical maintenance for three years, a two-year subscription for “Starlink” satellite communication systems installed in the vehicles, and the supply of consumable medical materials.
