Ukrainian border guards successfully conducted a rescue operation in the area of active hostilities along the Sumy axis, forcing Russian forces to abandon three captured Ukrainian servicemen through the use of precision drone strikes, reported The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine on April 28.

Reconnaissance drone operators identified a group of Russian soldiers holding the Ukrainian defenders captive. In response, multiple unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crews from the 1st Separate Tank Siversk Brigade were immediately deployed to the scene.

Working in coordination, Ukrainian drone operators carried out a unique and carefully planned mission. Through the drone strikes, they managed to separate the enemy forces from the prisoners. Facing intense pressure from the precision drone drops, the Russian troops were compelled to retreat, abandoning the captured Ukrainians.

"The strikes were so precise that the enemy had no opportunity to resist. They fled, leaving the prisoners behind in an attempt to save their own lives," the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine noted.

Earlier, Ukraine and Russia have conducted a prisoner exchange, resulting in the return of 277 Ukrainian defenders. The exchange was facilitated with the assistance of the United Arab Emirates, as confirmed by official statements from both sides.
