Ukraine’s Ground Forces reported that the drone operator, callsign “Pain,” from the 414th Brigade Magyar’s Birds, was guiding the drone toward its target when the Russian soldier raised his hands in surrender.
Instead of eliminating the target, the pilot remotely directed the surrendering soldier toward Ukrainian positions, where infantry from a nearby unit took him into custody.

According to Ukraine’s General Staff, “Pain” is a Hero of Ukraine, with his drone crew already disabling more than 500 Russian artillery pieces.
On June 19, Ukraine repatriated another group of seriously wounded and critically ill defenders from Russian captivity under the Istanbul agreements.
