Operators of the 413th Specialized Battalion of Unmanned Systems “Raid” reported on March 25 successfully identifying and disabling a Russian M-1978 “Koksan” self-propelled artillery system in the Donetsk direction.

This marks the fifth such unit to be neutralized by Ukrainian drone forces in the past month.

“Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, AFU  have destroyed over 25,000 enemy artillery systems. Due to a shortage of barrel artillery, the russian army is increasingly deploying ‘Koksans’ supplied by North Korea, “ the Unmanned Systems Forces wrote on their X account.

The Ukrainian forces added that the M-1978 “Koksan” is equipped with a 170mm gun capable of firing at ranges up to 60 km, making it one of the longest-range artillery systems currently used by Russian forces.

On March 18, Ukraine’s 14th Separate UAV Brigade reported that Ukrainian forces successfully identified and targeted three North Korean-produced Koksan self-propelled artillery systems in Russia’s Kursk region.
