Ukrainian Forces Destroy Russian Armored Assault Near Pokrovsk in 100 Minutes, Video

Ukrainian forces successfully repelled a large-scale mechanized assault by Russian troops on the Dobropillia axis near the city of Pokrovsk, as reported by the commander of the SBS group , Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, and the press service of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) “Azov” on December 22.
The Russian offensive reportedly involved 24 armored vehicles, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), and armored personnel carriers (APCs), as well as several dozen motorcycles and quad bikes. Ukrainian defenders neutralized the assault in approximately 100 minutes, according to Brovdi.
The core of the attacking force consisted of personnel from Russia’s 40th and 155th Naval Infantry Brigades, supported by additional units. The assault was carried out in four armored columns, reportedly under the assumption that they could breach Ukrainian defensive lines with speed and force.
Militarnyi reported that units from the NGU’s Azov 1st Corps, including the “Svoboda” Battalion of the 4th NGU Brigade, as well as elements of the SBS drone unit and other attached formations, engaged the enemy using a full range of capabilities—including reconnaissance and strike drones, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), and HIMARS precision-guided rockets.
A key factor in halting the assault was the use of remote mining carried out by drones from Lasar’s Group, a special forces detachment within the NGU, in coordination with engineering teams.
According to open-source intelligence analysts (OSINT), geolocation of footage released by the “Svoboda” Battalion confirms the engagement occurred near Pokrovsk, in the direction of the village of Razyne.

The bulk of Russian losses were inflicted by tube and rocket artillery, as well as mines dropped by UAVs. Final figures released by the Azov press office indicate Ukrainian forces destroyed six tanks, nine infantry fighting vehicles, five APCs, and one armored recovery vehicle (ARV).
In the final wave of the assault, Russian forces deployed 11 quad bikes, of which 10 were destroyed. One vehicle retreated from the battlefield.
As of 4:00 PM on December 22, Ukraine’s General Staff reported 33 separate Russian attempts to dislodge Ukrainian forces on the Pokrovsk axis since the beginning of the day.

“The elimination of enemy personnel involved in the assault is ongoing,” stated the press service of the Azov Corps. “We thank all units defending the sector of the 1st NGU Corps—particularly the fighters of the NGU’s special operations detachment ‘Lasar’s Group’ and the SBS drone units—for their decisive contribution to repelling the mass attack.”
Earlier, it was reported that during the night of December 20–21, 2025, a fire broke out at a Russian military air base near Lipetsk, engulfing two high-value fighter aircraft—a Su-30 and a Su-27.
