On Monday, August 26, Oleksii Mes, an Air Force pilot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, died in an F-16 plane crash while deterring a massive Russian attack.
This was reported by Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, the Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force.
“Yes, on August 26, 2024, the day of the largest attack on Ukraine, we lost a trained pilot, we lost an F-16, but we did not lose our humanity and faith in victory,” Oleshchuk wrote.
The Commander noted that the senior management and partners from the US have received an initial report and are already taking part in the investigation of the causes.
“I assure you that a detailed analysis is already being conducted, an investigation is underway. We must thoroughly investigate what happened, what the circumstances are, and whose responsibility it is. AND IT WILL BE DONE!” Oleshchuk added.
He emphasized that Information about such incidents cannot be immediately released into the public space and cannot be detailed for the media.
