Ukrainian President and Qatari Amir Discuss Peace Formula and Cooperation During Official Visit
On June 5, during his visit to Qatar, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar.
Zelenskyy expressed appreciation for Qatar’s steadfast support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its endorsement of key UN resolutions condemning Russia’s full-scale aggression.
“We rely on Qatar’s continued solidarity with our country during this historic time,” Zelenskyy stated.
Highlighting Qatar’s backing of the Ukrainian Peace Formula, the President underscored the significance of this support. He also touched upon preparations for the upcoming Summit on Peace for Ukraine, which will address topics such as the release of captives and the repatriation of deported Ukrainians.
Zelenskyy conveyed gratitude to Qatar for its assistance in returning Ukrainian children forcibly removed by Russia, commending its involvement in the International Coalition. Both parties pledged to sustain collaboration in this realm.
The discussions also encompassed matters concerning global food security and the operations of the Black Sea Export Corridor. The President thanked Qatar for its involvement in the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative and its allocation of funds toward its realization.
President Zelenskyy invited the Amir of Qatar to visit Ukraine.
This visit is taking place ahead of the Summit on Peace for Ukraine in Switzerland. Participation in this event has been confirmed by 107 countries and international organizations.
