Video Footage of Rare Skynex Anti-Aircraft Artillery System Fire Drills

Ukraine’s Air Command “West” released a video on September 25 showcasing training exercises with the Skynex air defense system.

Both systems were tranferred to Ukraine in 2024, entering combat service amid Russian full-scale invasion of Ukriane. At the moment, Ukraine is the only operator of the system in the world and has two systems in service.

German government financed the production and transfer of both systmes to the Ukrainian Army, which costed around €182 million.

The Skynex, a state-of-the-art air defense system introduced in 2021, is designed to counter drone and aerial attacks on airfields and critical infrastructure. It has a detection range of 20 to 50 kilometers and a firing range of 4 kilometers. The system includes four 35mm guns, a control post, and a radar station for target detection and guidance.
