YouTube has closed the accounts of several prominent Russian artists, such as Polina Gagarina and Oleg Gazmanov following their inclusion on the EU sanctions list.

The Video-sharing website YouTube blocked the channels of several Russian singers who support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Thursday, July 4.

This decision was made within the framework of the 14th package of EU sanctions from June 24, where 116 individuals and legal entities of the Russian Federation were subject to restrictions.

The list of blocked artists includes Polina Gagarina, who won second place at the Eurovision 2015, Oleg Gazmanov, Grigory Leps, Yulia Chicherina, Vyacheslav Manucharov, and Shaman (Yaroslav Dronov).

“My YouTube channel was blocked because I am RUSSIAN,” Dronov posted on Telegram.

Previously, the music streaming platform Spotify announced the removal of the profiles of the mentioned artists.
