The YouTube video hosting service stopped opening on computers and mobile devices for users in Russia on the morning of August 8, according to data from the Brand Analytics service.

According to the Sboy.rf service, by 11:20 (GMT+3), about five thousand complaints about the hosting service had been received, with the largest number of complaints coming from Moscow (21%).

On August 6, Russian authorities notified all major telecommunication companies in the country that they were slowing down video playback speeds on YouTube to 128 kilobits per second. A source in the telecommunications market told Meduza publication about this.

According to comments on websites monitoring the performance of online services, the video-sharing platform has stopped loading, which is why users cannot watch videos or leave comments, DTF writes.

DTF noted that videos are not loading in the YouTube mobile app on Android from the MTS mobile operator, although on August 7 the videos were playing without restrictions.
