US Vice President Vance After Meeting With Zelenskyy: “We Are Committed to Achieving a Durable Peace”
US Vice President JD Vance, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy meet on the sidelines of the 61st Munich Security Conference in Munich, southern Germany on February 14, 2025.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described his February 14 meeting at the Munich Security Conference (MSC) with US Vice President JD Vance as “good” and emphasized the importance of continued efforts and strategic planning to stop Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“We are very thankful for the American support, President Trump. We had a good conversation today. Our first meeting, not last, I'm sure. And really what we need to speak more, to work more, and to prepare the plan how to stop Putin and finish the war. We want, really we want this very much,” Zelenskyy stated.

Vice President Vance also highlighted the significance of the meeting, saying, "I think the way that this conversation moves us forward is first of all, you have great members of the Ukrainian delegation. You have our incredible Secretary of State Marco Rubio here. We have General Kellogg. It's important for us to get together and start to have the conversations that are necessary to bring this thing to a close. That's all I'm going to say."

After meeting with President Zelenskyy, JD Vance expressed that the US aims to end Russia’s war against Ukraine while securing a lasting peace.

“We want this war to end, we want the violence to stop, but we are committed to achieving a durable peace—one that won't lead to further conflicts in Eastern Europe in the years to come,” Vance concluded.

Earlier, US Senator Lindsey Graham stated at the MSC, that the war against Ukraine could end when Ukraine and the United States finalize a resource extraction agreement.
