Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced plans for an upcoming first meeting involving countries willing to consider deploying a peacekeeping contingent to Ukraine. The announcement was made during his discussions with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, as reported by European Pravda on April 1.

Zelenskyy stated that military representatives from several nations will convene to discuss the possibility of sending a contingent in various capacities.

“Regarding the contingent, we will have a meeting on April 4, a meeting of military teams from several countries, a select group of nations willing to consider deploying a contingent in one form or another,” Zelenskyy explained.

He emphasized that this would be the first in-depth discussion on the matter.

“There have been consultations, but this will be the first deep discussion. We will receive clarifications and additional details. Importantly, it will be based on proposals prepared by the Ukrainian side,” Zelenskyy concluded.

Previously, it was reported that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has stressed that the European Union must take a leading role in establishing robust security guarantees for Ukraine.
