Zelenskyy Meets Pope in Vatican, Gifts Him a Painting of Bucha Massacre
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Pope Francis at the Vatican, presenting the pontiff with a painting influenced by the Bucha massacre, Italian news outlet Ansa reported on October 11.
The meeting between Zelenskyy and Pope Francis lasted 35 minutes, from 9:45 am to 10:20 am, in the Vatican Library.
Pope Francis gifted Zelenskyy a bronze bas-relief of a blooming flower, inscribed with the words “The world is a fragile flower.”
In return, Zelenskyy gifted the pontiff an oil painting titled The Massacre in Bucha. The Story of Marichka, a piece reflecting the horrors of the massacre that took place in the Ukrainian town during the Russian occupation in 2022.
Previously, Ukrainian President met with The Pope at the G7 Summit on June 14, 2024.
