It has been 34 days since Ukraine accepted a US-proposed complete and unconditional ceasefire, while Russia has continued to reject the offer, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address on April 14, posted to his official Telegram channel.

Zelenskyy stated that Russian leader Vladimir Putin remains committed to prolonging the war and accused the Kremlin of using state-controlled media to prepare the Russian public for the failure of diplomatic efforts.

“Putin is focused on continuing the war. Russian state propagandists are preparing their audience for the fact that diplomacy will not yield results,” Zelenskyy said.

The ceasefire proposal, which was put forward by the United States and accepted by Ukraine on March 11, has not progressed due to Moscow’s refusal to agree to the terms, according to Ukrainian officials.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed it targeted a Ukrainian military command post in Sumy with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, allegedly killing more than 60 Ukrainian service members during a meeting of the Sever Operational-Tactical Group.

The strike occurred on Palm Sunday, April 13, when the streets were crowded with civilians. According to Ukrainian officials, at least 34 people were killed.
