Zelenskyy: Russia’s Peace Proposal Is a Political Ultimatum That No One Will Take Seriously

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the so-called peace memorandum proposed by Russia is nothing more than a political ultimatum and will not be taken seriously by either Ukraine or its international partners.
The statemnt was made during a briefing on June 4.
“Neither the Ukrainian side nor our partners will treat it seriously,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
He noted that one of the key points in the Russian document demands international recognition of the annexation of Ukrainian territories and the complete withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Why is it an ultimatum? Because the first point calls for international legal recognition of the inclusion of Crimea, the so-called DNR and LNR , as well as the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, into the Russian Federation, and the full withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations from these territories,” Zelenskyy explained.

The President called such proposals unrealistic and offered an alternative — a ceasefire ahead of a potential meeting at the level of national leaders.
“We are proposing a ceasefire ahead of a leaders’ meeting. We are ready for it as early as Monday — any day, in a location of Russia’s choosing: Istanbul, the Vatican, Switzerland,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that half of the 41 aircraft damaged during the strike on Russia are beyond repair. The attack on Russian aircraft, he noted, would not have occurred had Russia agreed to a ceasefire in advance.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to a potential meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump, provided that thorough preparations are conducted in advance.
