Zelenskyy: Ukraine Used F-16s to Repel Latest Russian Massive Aerial Attack

The President noted that the F-16 jets provided by allies demonstrated strong performance during the recent “massive attack,” successfully intercepting several missiles.

Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the aircraft and the latest aid package from the United States. However, he emphasized that the current number of jets is insufficient and that Ukraine is still in the process of training pilots to operate them.

On August 26, Russia carried out a large-scale attack on Ukraine’s civilian and energy infrastructure. According to Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk, the attack involved 236 missiles and drones, most of which were intercepted by Ukrainian air defense.

The strikes caused significant damage to energy facilities, including the Kyiv HPP, resulting in seven deaths and 47 injuries, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
